Film production and distribution company Firebook Entertainment announced six acquisitions and an international rights deal that were brokered at the Marché du Film in Cannes.
Firebook finalized equity stakes in Every Heavy Thing, directed by Mickey Reece, and Devil’s Carnaval, an upcoming project from Argentina’s Del Toro Films.
They have also come on board in all areas for two Spanish films: In the Flesh – directed by Ainhoa Goyoaga for Sideral Films – and Voracious, the next project from director Daniel Caneiro of Antumbra Productions.
Additionally, the company has agreed in principle to be on board for two more Argentine movies: Javier Cuarto’s Blind Paradise and the Fernando Díaz (When Evil Lurks)-produced Cat’s Cry.
“These new acquisitions mark a significant milestone in our growth, enabling us to bring diverse and compelling stories to audiences worldwide,” said Firebook co-founder Juan Pablo Reinoso.
An international rights deal for the Indian thriller Vadakkan, which screened at this year’s Marché du Film as a Fantastic Pavilion gala, was also announced.
It’s also worth noting that David Bond, an award-winning genre producer (Huesera), has been brought on as Head of Strategy for the company.
John Moss, co-founder of Firebook, concluded that “these developments underscore our mission to champion filmmakers by selectively partnering on projects that demonstrate exceptional achievements, global appeal, and promising future potential. Our goal will always be to provide our clients with unparalleled services, looking out for the filmmaker first and foremost.”
